First Date Checklist

First Date Checklist to help you prepare for a first date

It's great when your preparing for a first date, the excitement of looking forward to meeting someone who you might like. This checklist, although perhaps maybe a little "to-the-point" in some cases will hopefully help you to prepare and to not forget anything vital, of course this advice mostly applies to an in-person date, but at the moment you are probably more likely to be going on dates over Zoom or Teams, so make sure you take a look at our advice guides on remote dating.

Wallet? Forgetting this could make things very difficult!

Nothing unsightly on or around your face, for example, toothpaste around your mouth, or bogies around your nose?

Mints for your breathe especially if you eat something on the first date which has an unpleasant smell!

Do you thing it might be a good idea to have anything you might need for sexual health or protection, for example, condoms?

Does your breath or armpits smell okay?

Tissues or handkerchief in case you have a cold or your date needs it!

Paracetamol for a headache!

Stomach tablets can be useful to have when dealing with nerves or if something upsets your stomach!

Have you checked that your hair is not doing something unwanted?

Do you Know the last train / bus / tram / walk route home?

What is their name? Although this could sound silly, if you forget it this it could be a little embarrassing and also if you have dated a few people recently it could be easy to mix people up!

Do you know where are you meeting and how to get there, and do you need a map?

Do you know what do they look like, is it clear from their online dating profile or have they texted, messaged or emailed you any photos to help you recognise them on the date?

How did you meet / find them as this could be a topic of conversation and a good ice breaker.

Do you personally know What you are looking for?

Have you checked out the dating Safety tips to help you ensure you date safely?

Hopefully it went well, make sure you read our post-date advice to lock in that second date!

Good Luck!
